Free verse poem

Free verse poem
Kia ora and welcome back to my blog today I am going to be talking about my free verse poem that we had two days to do. First we had to pick an item to write about then we had to write full sentences about it. Then when it was the next day in writing we had to edit it to make it make sense an then got a teacher to check it. Then when we finished we got to help someone or read a book. My poem was about climate change and how people can help the world. I found it fun and challenging. Fun because I have not done a free verse poem before and also challenging because the teachers said the we had to add metaphors, onomatopoeia and personification and if you want to see my poem here is a link to my poem . Thank you for reading this blog post hope you have a great day and a lovely weekend blog you later!

CROSS COUNTRY DAY!!!

CROSS COUNTRY DAY!!!

Hey bloggers, On Wednesday the 11th of September which was last week Waikowhai Primary School had their cross country. We also had our fun run on the same day. We had to do four different things. The first thing was kicking goals into the goal post then the second thing was obstacle course after that we had  skipping, then  we had the big run . The seniors and the middle school had to do two laps around the school and the juniors did one lap. We did the fun run because we are saving for  a canope over the courts , so we can still play outside  when it is wet. So far we have rised $14000 .We had so much fun on the day and then we had lunch . We had free time and got to play with our friends.

I liked the cross country because I got to spend time with my friends and had some little slices of cake .I also like it because I got to  choose the prizes for my sponsorship. I enjoyed  it because even though I was bad at kicking goals I still tried my best and I made it through the day and had so much fun too. Have a nice day and blog you later.

Camp!!!

Camp!!!

Hey bloggers, Welcome back to my blog. Last week most of the students from Waikowhai Primary School went to Mt Ruapehu for camp. We went to the Crossing because that's where we were staying  for three nights and four days. It was so hard to find all the gear for camp but it was all worth it because we were going to Mt Ruapehu. It was so hard to find a suitcase that was that big to fit all my gear in. So we had to go shopping for it but it was okay because I also got some lollies. I was feeling nervous because I might fall and it will hurt but at the same time I was excited because I was looking forward to snowboarding for the first time.

We had to get to school before 7:30 and get into our colour groups and I was in colour green and my leaders were Chris and Mala. They were so nice to me and everyone in our group. When we were loaded up we were off there was two buses and one of the drivers name was Ben and the other one  was Michael. They were the best bus drivers that anyone could ever have. When we finally got to the Crossing we went to our rooms and then put our suitcases away. We can put them under our beds (they were bunk beds ) and my room mates were Grace, Mercedes, Cassie, Jia, Aahana, Brooklyn and Peitynn. They were the best room mates. The food there was the best. We got a nice great breakfast and a lovely dinner also DESSERT - I wasn't expecting that.

On the first day that we went to Mt Ruapehu we had to wake up at 6:30 and then we had to get most of our gear on then go to the dinning room for breakfast. When we had finished breakfast we had to go back into our rooms and then put the rest of our gear on. Then we had to give our water bottle to our team leaders, after we got on the bus and then we were off to the mountain. When we were on the bus we were all boiling because of how many layers we were wearing but it was worth it. When we finally got there we had to go up in a shuttle, we all thought that it was going to be hot again but it was not it was nice and cold but we had to wait to get to the top of the mountain. When we got to the top everyone started to throw snow balls.

When we got our snowboards and snow gear that is when we went to go tobogganing - it was fun but when we went down we had to walk back up again. After that we went to go up the gondola. You could see everyone going down there, it was so cool. When we went all the way up we watched Ms Sands and Zoe and Zoe's mum go down on their skis. We went back down the Gondola and then we waited for our lessons. Finally the instructor came and we put our snowboard on.  We had our lessons and then we went  down the slopes and then it was time for us to go back , we did go back on Thursday so we took our stuff that they gave us and then went back to the Crossing.

The next day we woke up and got ready with our gear. Then we were off to the mountain again we went out there and had so much fun. This time the weather was so bad but we also had hot chips and hot chocolate there. Before we left l went down the slopes one more time. After that we went back to give the gear back and then sang a song. on the way back we went to the swimming pool.  We went for a swim there. We also  saw a kids from the school  that were on the mountain as well. It was so much fun. We also had HOT DOGS!!! but then we had to leave and I was sad because it was the last day of the camp and I had so much fun. We made a rap song on the way back and it is so cool. Also here is a link to my camp reflections and a link to my camp slide show
Hope you had enjoyed my blog. Blog you later.

Gumboot Friday/Mental Health
Hey Bloggers,
On Friday was Gumboot Friday. Gumboot Friday is all about Mental health. Mental health is a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional welling-being. We made cards with heart touching words to brighten family’s and peoples days.We got the idea from the Healthy Puketapapa student questionnaire the Healthy puketapapa student questionnaire is when the teachers picked some kids to do a booklet that have questions in it . When the teachers read all of the booklets thats where they got the idea. The idea came for a student named Neeve to put letters into the other people's mailbox. The teachers came to school in gumboots to raise money for the people.Mike King was the New Zealander of the year last year 2018.

We made cards with heart touching words to brighten family’s and peoples days. Then on Tuesday we went and put them into people's mailbox. Thank you to all the parents who came along and helped us at two o'clock we had a great day and hope you had a great day to. I think that Gumboot day is a good idea because then people can support and help the people that are indeed and so that people woot be sad and we know that because a person’s mum called Sally (Sally is a person from our office) and said when they got the letter and her son read it and then he felt so happy and the mum was so happy that when is was talking on the phone she was almost crying and Miss Ellen who used to be our dp (deputy principal) sent a text and said that we had brighten her day.

Christchurch

HEY Bloggers
Today I will be talking about what happened in Christchurch. Our school made some cards for the people who helped them. After morning tea we all went to the hall because we were talking about what happened in Christchurch then we all went outside to pant a Kowhai tree, put the cards around the tree, 1 min of silence and sang the national anthem. Then on our Family Fun Day we stopped at 1:30 for the call to prayer then we had two mins of silence. On the Give a little page  you can donate money for them, so far they have raised $9,083,535,33. RIPPER RUGBY!!!!!!!

RIPPER RUGBY!!!

HEY BLOGGERS! On Tuesday, the Ripper Rugby team were amazing! There were 10 people but only 7 people went on the field at the time and three subs. We played 5 games, we lost 2 but we won 3. We made it into the top 8 when we went to the field the team was not there so we just played 5 vs 5. We had so much fun but we didn't make it into the top 3 but we all had fun. We went to play at Cox's Bay there were so many schools and I learnt that you have to be fit to play ripper.

Blog you later! and enjoy your afternoon.
